Apple
  • The apple provides carbohydrates mainly in the form of sugars such as fructose, glucose and sucrose.

  • The apple contains appreciable amounts of fibre, both soluble and insoluble, the latter being the most abundant, and which makes this food an effective regulator of diseases of the large intestine such as constipation and diarrhea.

  • The apple is a source of vitamin C that contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.

  • Apples are an important source of various flavonoids such as flavonols, catechins and procyanidins, compounds with potent antioxidant activity, which could also modulate immune function and platelet activation.
